Swizz Beatz Says That More Than 2.7M People Tuned For Snoop Dogg and DMX’s Verzuz Battle “The culture wins again,” he wrote on Instagram.

It was a “Battle of the Dogs'' on Wednesday night (July 22) when Snoop Doggand DMX took over Instagram for the latest Verzuz battle.

Ahead of their matchup, the two rap luminaries took to their respective social pages to get fans riled up for a dogfight, and come night time, they were not disappointed.

  1. The match did get off to a bit of a late start after Snoop and X came into their designated arena around 8:15 p.m. ET, according to Billboard. But, after a quick prayer courtesy of X, the match was off to a blazing start with Snoop kicking the affair off with his featured appearance on Dr. Dre’s 1992 classic, “Deep Cover.” X answered him with “Intro” from his 1998 album, It’s Dark and Hell is Hot.

Over the course of two hours, the hip-hop icons ran through their biggest hits, classic records, and fan-favorite cuts from their decorated catalogs in the span of 21 rounds. But the entire night was marked by the mutual love and respect that the two displayed for each other.

  2. “It was a EPIC night,” Swizz Beatz commented afterwards on Instagram. “The culture wins again. Good vibes. Thx X and Snoop.”

Later that night, the official Verzuz Twitter account posted a screenshot following their matchup showing that more than 2,002,543 viewers had tuned into the livestream.

While recapping the match with Timbaland over Instagram Live, Swizz hinted that the numbers might be even bigger.

“What happened tonight, 2.7 million people watched, and I think the numbers are bigger than that. That’s the first number we got. 2.7 [million], with the East Coast and West Coast coming together. Not fighting. Not disagreeing. But trending worldwide because of music,” he told Timb. “I was in my car for five hours and you were in your house for five hours, [and] that turned into this epic celebration of artists that deserve to be streamed and loved.”
