 I love drinking water as we all know our body is made up of 60% water and it’s very important to drink lots of water for radiant skin as well as to maintain health. In the USA where I grew up I would add a slice of yellow lemon to my water. This is to not only make the water taste better but also the lemon burns fat. Which is great for the body. When I started coming to Ghana I got hooked on to coconut water it is very accessible on every road plus let’s be honest fresh coconuts do not exist in the USA. I would rush and buy almost every time I saw a coconut stand little did I know how healthy it was for my body.  Here are some health benefits of coconut water and the actual food inside the coconut also known as copra.

 

The fat content in coconut water is extremely low, so generous quantities can be consumed without the fear of immediately packing on the pounds. It also suppresses the appetite and makes you feel full because of its rich nature.  Regular intake of coconut water can relieve hypertension. The copra can fight inflammation and heal wounds, just like the water. Two studies found that coconut water restored hydration after exercise better than water and equal to high-electrolyte sports beverages.

In summary coconut meat is tasty and slightly sweet, and you can enjoy it raw or dried. Many related products are produced from it, including coconut milk, cream, and oil. it also has many health benefits including  promoting blood sugar control, heart health and more.

Potential drawbacks

Because they’re so high in fat, coconuts are also high in calories.

Depending on your calorie needs and intake, they might promote weight gain if you don’t account for the extra calories elsewhere in your diet.

There still isn’t much good-quality research on coconut, cholesterol, and heart disease. Thus, while eating coconut in moderation is probably fine, you should ask your healthcare provider about it if you are at risk of developing heart disease.

Additionally, some people are allergic to coconuts, though this is rare. If you have this allergy, you should avoid consuming all coconut-derived products.

 

Next time you are thirsty especially after a workout think twice before drinking water.
